SHE’S on the scholarship of a lifetime in the Unite States – and all that hard work by Finn Valley’s Sarah Collins is really paying off.
She had very significant performance at the University of Winconsin Invitational.
She was again the lead Providence finisher in a thrilling 6th position, her time for the 6k on a fast course 19-50 – a race which had 48 teams and 327 finishers!
Always to the fore she went through the line just 5 seconds down on the winner.
The Irish junior cross country and track champion runs for Providence College, Rhode Island, where she is on a scholarship.
Individual result reads 1. Hollander ,Cal Poly 19-33;2.Saina ,Iowa State 19.35;3.Henry ,Weber State 19.43 :6th Collins Providence College 19-50.
Team story was Iowa 109 pts ;Stanford 181; Cornell 264;Providence 265 .
Said a delighted Finn Valley AC Patsy McGonagle: “To put in perspective this event is regarded as arguably the most competitive pre ncaa invitational meet so next up is the Big East Championships.
