The mother of Enya and Clannad had to be rushed to hospital after she slipped and fell at an Irish Festival.

Baba Brennan tripped and fell at the Oireachtas Festival in Letterkenny, on Saturday evening.

Baba is understood to have fallen at the Mount Errigal Hotel shortly after 8pm.

An ambulance was called and Baba, a music teacher, was rushed to Letterkenny General Hospital.

Mrs Brennan had been listening to Irish music as well as watching Sean Nos dancing before her accident.

One onlooker revealed “Baba was saying hello to everyone when it appeared she tripped and fell.

“Somebody say they heard a terrible crack and it looked like Baba was in some considerable pain.

“It’s an awful thing to happen. She’s such a lovely woman.”

It is understood that Baba may have hurt her hip and leg in the fall.

Baba still helps out at Leo’s Tavern in Meenaleck, Crolly where her family still perform on a regular basis.

Mrs Brennan was still being cared or at Letterkenny General Hospital.
