CREDIT UNION TO BEAT LOAN SHARKS WITH CHEAP CHRISTMAS LOANS

Letterkenny Credit Union is offering a cut-price loan deal to help members pay for the cost of Christmas and stop them from going to loan sharks.

The organisation is offering a seasonal loan of €1,000 with just €1,020 to pay back for a period of up to 40 weeks.

Under the slogan ‘Don’t get your tinsel in a tangle’, the credit union is offering the deal to all its members.

Manager of Letterkenny Credit Union Gordon Randles said the offer was first made available last Christmas and proved hugely popular.

Now the credit union has decided to offer the same loan deal again with the least amount of interest of any offer across Donegal.

Last Christmas the €1,000 loan deal was taken up by hundreds of members who used the cash advance to spend on items over the festive season.

A number of illegal money-lenders are now operating across Letterkenny and Co Donegal.

Many are charging huge interest on loans after traditional avenues of money lending including banks stopped offering short-term loans.
