This is the Letterkenny man who is lucky to be alive after being struck by a high-speed train.

Kevin Rooney, 40, was out jogging when he was struck by the train in The Hague in Holland.

Last night, Kevin’s mum Glenda said she was just happy her son was alive.

Kevin, who works with the European Patents Office, suffered internal injuries as well as a broken leg and arm.

Mum Glenda said “He is so lucky to be alive and I’ve no doubt his dad Pete was looking down on him.”

Kevin was struck by the train on November 8th last after jogging across a train line.

Kevin has now been moved out of intensive care and is on the road to recovery.
