More than 1,000 fans turned up to say a huge thank you to one of Donegal sport’s most loyal servants.

Killea man Kevin McHugh received a deserved hero’s welcome along with his family at Finn Park last night for a special Battle of the Hills testimonial game in his honour.

The game, which saw one half of soccer and another of GAA, was played between a Finn Harps All star select and a Donegal GAA select.

McHugh, who has spent 11 of his 15 seasons in top flight football with Finn Harps, was delighted with the warm-welcome he received.

“It was a great night and it was played it really good spirit. I’m very thankful for everyone who helped to organize the night,” said McHugh.

In the end it was the Donegal GAA team who kept their winning streak going when they won on a combined soccer and GAA scoreline of 3-7 to 1-8.

Guests of honour on the night was Raphoe man Gary McCullagh and his son Christian who recently had a kidney transplant.

A testimonial dinner in honour of Kevin will take place tonight.
