GAA NEWS: BUNCRANA CLUB NOTES

Condolences: The Club wishes to express its condolences to John, Mairead and family on the passing of Michael Doherty (Dubh). John played with the under 16 footballers this season.

 

We wish to offer our deepest condolences to Declan Doherty and Pauline Farren on the recent death of Pauline’s mother.

 

Everyone associated with the Club was shocked and saddened this to hear of the death of Sean Craig. A proud Down, Noamh Mura, Buncrana and Down supporter, Sean was a great character and spent many days in the Scarvey helping with our senior teams. Sincere and heartfelt condolences to his son Paddy and to all the Craig family.

 

AGM: Buncrana GAA held its Executive Annual General Meeting on Sunday 25th November 2012, there was a large turnout and thanks to all who attended. The following officers have been chosen for next year: Chairman – Paul McGonigle, Assistant Chairman – Brian Stokes, Secretary – Grainne Soal, Assistant Secretary – Claire McCarron, Treasurer – John Peter Roe, Assistant Treasurer – Shane McDaid, PRO – Oisin Doherty, Assistant PRO – Jennifer McNally. Coaching Officer – Odhran Doherty, Development Officer – Carl Craig. Senior Players Rep – Kevin O’Loughlin & Gavin McConnell.

 

Sale of Club Tracksuits: A sale of club tracksuits for children will take place on Tuesday 4th December from 8pm-9pm. All tracksuits reduced to 20euro, sizes 9/10, 10/11 and 12/13. Please contact Elizabeth Anne on 0860604075.

 

Sam Maguire Photographs: Photographs of the Sam Maguire taken in the Plaza on Sunday 28th October by Angela Tourish can now be collected. Please phone 0863068662 to arrange collection.

 

Vocational Schools: Congratulations to the Donegal Vocational Schools side and Buncrana senior player Darach O’Connor, who qualified for the Ulster Final by claiming victory over Down in the semi-final on Thursday, with Darach scoring a personal tally of 3-2. Good luck in the final next week to all involved.

Ryan Bradley Coaching Sessions: Ryan Bradley GAA Coaching Sessions for under 6’s are taking place every Saturday in Crana College, with children asked to be present at 11.15am. A €2 contribution will be used exclusively to purchase equipment and gear for participating children. The sessions focus on fun, enjoyment, participation, balance, coordination and basic skill of football and hurling.

 

U8 Football: Under 8 football coaching sessions are taking place in Crana College on Friday nights at 6.30 and all newcomers are very welcome. The session offer the opportunity to learn the basic skills of Gaelic Football in a fun and safe environment.

 

Senior Football: Our senior footballers were not in action this weekend. Buncrana will take on intermediate and league champions Termon in the final league game of the season on Sunday 2nd December at 1.30pm and 3.00pm. A large turnout is expected as the lads require a win to guarantee a promotion play-off.

 

Sports Prediction Competition: The current top ten entries in our Sport Prediction Competition are as follow – Oisin McColgan: 60, Brian Moran: 57, Andy McLaughlin (Snr): 57, Senan Grant: 57, Aidan Mulholland: 54, Shaun Higgins: 54, Daniel Carr: 54, Matthew Cutliffe: 54, Kieran Grant: 54.

 

Lotto: The winning numbers in the €3,220 jackpot lotto draw, which took place on Tuesday 13th November in O’Flaherty’s Bar on the Main Street, are as follows: 1, 6, 26, 29.

 

There was no jackpot winner that week, however prizes of €20 go to each of the following participants:
