MASTERMIND JACK’S SPECIALIST SUBJECT – BEING CAUGHT OUT BY HIS FAMILY!

Jack and his proud family

He may be Junior Mastermind but you can always trust your family to get one up on you!

Young Jack Meenan, 11, was the toast of Castlefin and Co Donegal when he scooped the award on TV3 on Sunday night.

But he certainly wasn’t ready for the surprise his granny Olive Byrne arranged at the family’s shop in Liscooley yesterday afternoon.

Brains to Byrne! Jack with granny Olive and grandad Pete Byrne

Jack had enjoyed a great day at St Mary’s National School in Castlefin and received a hero’s welcome from his classmates who spent the whole day watching the show and celebrating Jack’s success.

Jack was speechless (and a little red in the face!) when he arrived at the shop to see the poster.

And if that couldn’t be topped, he was then interviewed by Rick O’Shea on 2fm this afternoon (rick won the celebrity mastermind earlier in the year)

Jack’s dad Derek says he is just thrilled by all the good wishes and is certainly enjoying his moment in the spotlight.

“There is such a feeling of goodwill in the local community and county wide, it just couldn’t be a better time to be from Donegal,” said Derek who is helping Jack to celebrate along with mum Edel and younger brother Michael, 7.
