Donegal Town 2 Raphoe Town 1
Despite contrasting league positions which seen the hosts start second from top and the visitors second from bottom, it was Raphoe who took the lead in the second minute. A good move down the right hand side was finished off by Rhys Laird at the back post with a fine one touch finish. Donegal dominated possession from then on in the game without carving out any clear cut chances. It was Raphoe who went closer to a second goal when David Craig had his effort tipped onto the bar by Donegal ‘keeper Dermot Mc Cafferty. It remained that way at the break and Donegal continued to dominate possession in the second half and got a somewhat fortunate but deserved equaliser five minutes in. Raphoe failed to defend a Conor Mc Monagle corner properly and a misplaced header from a defender ended up in his own net. Just as it looked like the game was heading for a draw, second half substitute David Harron spun his defender to create a chance for Declan Brown to slip home the all important winner with less than ten minutes remaining. Good team performances from both teams. Referee: Marty Mc Garrigle
