soccer-balljackiecrossanCockhill Celtic Yths 3-4 Illies Celtic

Cockhill started this game on fire with Mark Moran dinking an effort just wide before Liam McCarron turned well but fired just over the bar. They broke the deadlock on 35 minutes when Moran’s corner was headed home at the back post by Martin Donaghey.Illies tried to hit back before the break with James O Donnell’sfree kick just clearing the bar.Cockhill increased their lead on 55 minutes after good play between Chris Duffy and Daniel Doherty saw the latter’s low cross swept home by Moran from twelve yards.Illies reduced the deficit just after the hour when O Donnell converted a penalty awarded after Niall McDaid had been tripped in the area.A turning point in the game came on 69 minutes when Derek Doherty was upended in the area but his spot kick was brilliantly saved by Graeme Doherty.A defensive error allowed O Donnell seize the ball and cross for Gerard McDaid to slot home.Illies took the lead on 82 minutes after substitute Stephen McHugh’s free kick was parried by McColgan for James McGonagle to fire home.Cockhill thought they had salvaged a point on 87 minutes when Greg Bradley released Moran to outrun the defence and fire past Doherty. But in injury time the home defence misjudged a long kick out and McGonagle showed great composure to run on and slot past McColgan.
