Cockhill Colts 6-5 Illies Res

 

The colts took an early lead in the 6th minute when Gary Breslin’s cross-come-shot sailed into the net.But Illies got back on terms within minutes when Matthew Grant flicked on for Liam Doherty to sldie the ball hoem from close range.The home side regained the lead then on 37 minutes when Kieran McDaid curled a superb effort to the top corner from the edge of the area.They increased their lead on the stroke of half time after a Breslin cross was headed to the net by an unfortunate defender.Minutes after the restart it became four one when Breslin headed home a Sean Gillespie cross from close range.Illies mounted a fight back and reduced the deficit when Grant’s deep cross was slotted home at the back post by Doherty on 66 minutes.Five minutes later they got another when Grant converted a penalty awarded for handball and the comeback was completed when they equalised on 75 minutes after substitute John Hutchinson ‘s cross eluded all allowing Doherty to sidefoot home and complete his hat trick.Cockhill raised the tempo and retook the lead on 84 minutes when Breslin chested the ball into the path of substitute Marty McDermott and he hammered to the net.They made it six four when Breslin converted McDaids cross from close range.Illies had the final say when Grant fired an unstoppable forty yards free kick in off the underside of the bar.

 

Rasheney Rovers 3-6 Moville Youths

 

With the wind Moville dominated the opening period and took the lead on 18 minutes when a deep cross fell to Kevin McDermott at the back post and he slotted home.

 

They increased their lead midway through the half after a corner found Colin Doherty who powered a bullet of a header to the roof of the net.Before the interval it became three nil when Oran McDermott capitalized on a defensive mix up to drill the ball home.The home side got a goal back on 52 minutes after George Doherty advanced from midfield into the area before firing to the top corner.Moville replied and spurned a great opening when Oran McDermott fired a penalty wide after Gearoid McQuillan had been upended.But the regained their three goal cushion when Kevin McDermott ran unchallenged through the centre before firing to the top corner. Rovers kept battling and scored a second when Eamon Doherty’s cross was sidefooted home by Ryan Gill.But again Moville replied and McQuillan collected a clearance at the edge of the area and fired to the top corner.The home side again got the next goal after Fergal Doherty crossed for Ryan Doherty to convert from close range.But Moville had the final say when they added a sixth on 88 minutes after Oran McDermott pounced on hesitation in the home defence to slot home.
