Greencastle opened the scoring on 21 minutes after a corner was cleared as far as Patrick McClenaghan who laid off to Ciaran Moore to shoot low past Michael Noone from sixteen yards.The home side spurned a great chance on 39 minutes when Jordan O Brien’s corner found Martin McDermott whose first time half volley came off a defender and away to safety.Within minutes the visitors doubled their lead when a corner was not cleared and Tony McClenaghn poked home from close range.Carrowmena reduced the deficit within minutes of the restart when Declan McDermott’s cross saw a scramble develop and Eamon Doherty was on hand to force the ball home. The home side had another chance on 56 minutes after an inswinging Kevin McDermott corner was brilliantly punched clear by Philip McClenaghan. Greencastle increased their lead on 68 minutes when Sean McQuillan intercepted a weak back pass to shoot past the stranded Noone.It got worse for the home side within minutes as another error in their defence allowed McClenaghan to slot home his second of the game.It became five one a minute later when Charlie Gill fed Michael Barr who released Patrick McClenaghan on the right who crossed for the inrushing Barr to fire low to the corner.Carrowmena tried to reply with Cory O Brien seeing his effort deflected behind by the leg of McClenaghan.On 87 minutes a long ball found Barr but his effort was blocked by a combination of Noone and Jason Crumlish.
