Carn Res 2-2 Cockhill Res

Carn had the better of the opening exchanges with Conor Doherty having a low shot well saved by Lee McCarron before Matthew Doherty broke through the visitors defence but failed to hit the target when well placed.Cockhill replied and Shane Doherty fired just over the bar from the edge of the area on the half hour.Carn were next to threaten with Matthew McLaughlin having a twenty five yards free superbly tipped around the post by McCarron.Cockhill upped the tempo before the break with Michael Coyle seeing a low shot from the edge of the area saved by JJ Doherty before Shane McClean fired into the side netting from an acute angle.Minutes into the second period the home side took the lead when following a quick throw in Matthew Mclaughlin crossed for Rory Brady to fire low to the net from twelve yards.Cockhill got back on terms just after the hour mark after Marty Bradley rose highest to head home a free kick from ten yards.Minutes later the visitors took the lead when Ryan Duffy beat the offside trap to run clear and fire low past Doherty. The home side rallied and equalised on 80 minutes when a Ronan Doherty ball over the top found Brady and he raced clear to drill low past McCarron. With both teams pushing hard for the winner it was Cockhill who had the best chances but both Duffy and Coyle fired wide when clear.

Glengad Res 2-4 Clonmany Res

In an even opening Brian Doherty had an effort saved by Clonmany keeper Roger mcGilloway while at the other end Kieran Kelly’s wind assisted effort was well tipped over by Michael McLaughlin. The home side took the lead on 19 minutes after a Niall McLaughlin ball over the top sent Gary Kelly clear and he lobbed the advancing McGilloway.Clonmany replied with Brendan Devlin having a header saved by McLaughlin before the same player headed wide at the back post. They equalised on 34 minutes when the home defence failed to clear allowing Aiden Doherty to nip in and slot low to the net.On the stroke of half time a defensive miskick allowed Doherty in to fire his second past the exposed McLaughlin. In the opening minute of the second period Doherty almost grabbed his hat trick when his effort crashed off the post .Glengad replied and levelled after a Niall McLaughlin free came off the bar to Michael Gallagher to slot home from close range.Clonmany upped the pace again and Doherty had an effort turned onto the post by Mclaughlin before Doherty grabbed his hat trick when he converted at the second attempt after McLaughlin had parried his initial shot. They increased their lead on 61 minutes when Devlin superbly lobbed McLaughlin when his effort crashed in off the underside of the bar. Glengad tried to hit back with Stephen Mclaughlin seeing a header cleared off the lien by Andrew Barr before Kelly raced clear but McGilloway advanced to save well.

Sea Rovers 0-8 Aileach Res

Aileach recovered from last weeks shock defeat at home to Carn with this comprehensive defeat of bottom placed Rovers. They opened the scoring in the 3rd minute when James Wallace headed home a Stephen O Donnell corner.Rovers replied and both Gerard Crossan and Shane Diver had effort saved by David McGeady. Aileach increased their lead on 14 minutes when another o Donnell delivery found Wallace and he headed home from ten yards.Eddie McGrath then had an angled effort tipped round the post by Fergal Bradley before Stephen Doherty ran onto a long kick out to fire past Bradley before the break.Aileach blitzed the home side with four goals in an eleven minute spell after the break.Stehen Doherty pounced on a defensive error and unleashed a shot which hit both posts before going in before McGrath headed home another O Donnell free kick.Ruairi Bradley then ran onto a Michael Morrison pass to fire home number six from the edge of the area before an O Donnell free eluded all and landed in the net.Rovers still tried to push forward with lee McClarence firing just over before Luke Rodden beat three defenders but shot weakly at McGeady.Ailach completed the scoring and Doherty his hat trick when he controlled Morrisons cross and fired past Bradley.

QPS Res 3-0 Culdaff Res

There was little between the teams in the opening quarter of the game and the visitors will feel they did not deserve to be on the wrong end of such a scoreline. The home side were first to threaten on 22 minutes when a Paul Hegarty driven free into the area found no takers.Culdaff replied and had a good spell with Michael McLaughlin heading a Paddy McColgan corner over the bar before McColgan was off target with a free kick. Then William Hutchinson crept in at the back post but his effort was turned behind by Brian Lynch. The point broke and took the lead just before the interval when an Aiden Lynch cross found Gerard Greene who slid the ball low past George Houten from point blank range. They increased their lead on 55 minutes after Hegarty’s free crashed back off the post to Mark Duffy who crossed for Greene to score with a spectacular bicycle kick from fourteen yards.Culdaff responded and Ryan Greene was unlucky to see his twenty five yards effort crash back off the bar on 66 minutes. The point then killed the game as a contest when they added a third after Hegarty fed Lynch to race clear and fire low past Houten.Culdaff had good claims for a penalty waved aside in the 80th minute and were unlucky when Darren McLarkey saw his effort rebound off the post. They had the final chance as well but Terence McLaughlin failed to hit the target after a goalmouth scramble.
