MAN HOSPITALISED AFTER GOLF IRON USED IN ATTEMPTED BURGLARY

A man has been hospitalised after an attempted break-in to a private home in Letterkenny last night.burglary

It is understood the man, who is known to Gardai, attemped to trespass at a house in the Glencar area.

However, he was approached in the house by the owner who is a well-known businessman from the town.

An altercation took place and one of the men, understood to be the alleged trespasser, had to be taken to hospital.

He is currently receiving treatment at Letterkenny General Hospital for his injuries.

Donegal Daily understands a golf club was used during the incident.

Gardai are not yet commenting on the incident but a full investigation into the matter has been launched.
