A stand-off between a truck-owner and customs officials lasted for almost an hour in Letterkenny this afternoon.customs lib

A black pick up truck with Northern Ireland plates came onto a garage forecourt followed by the customs officers in two unmarked vehicles.

The customs blocked the vehicle in and tried to dip it for a fuel test.

The incident took place just before 2pm in the vicinity of Kelly’s of Mountain Top.

However the incident, which included the dipping of the suspected vehicle, had nothing to do with Kelly’s of Mountain Top.

Customs officers then proceeded to sit in the vehicle where the owner locked him in and refused to let him out.

After discussions a recovery truck arrived on the scene and removed the pick-up truck.
