Donegal Labour Party Chairman, Peter Cutliffe has challenged Deputy Pearse Doherty to come up with plans for vacant Udaras na Gaeltachta properties.pearse doherty

The Labour politician was reacting to the Gaoth Dobhair TD’s claims that more than 50% of such properties are empty.

A total of 67 out of 125 properties in such areas as Kilcar, Cloughaneely and Gaoth Dobhair are empty.

Mr Cutliffe said “Whilst I agree with Deputy Doherty, I believe that , rather than just being critical, he should now take a lead-role in preparing a feasabilty plan to utilise these vacant units.

“I understand that the bulk of these vacant units are in Deputy Doherty’s constituency and he therefore would be well acquainted with the needs of his area & what projects are worth promoting “.

” I don’t believe it’s sufficient to be critical of current systems and structures. People want to see actual solutions which will ultimately lead to gainful employment , he concluded.
