Quiz:

The Ulster Quiz final takes place today Wed. 20th March in Mahon’s Hotel, Irvinstown, Co Fermanagh. Donegal will be represented by Scoil Chróine-Dungloe; Kilmacrennan NS ; Gaelscoil Leitir Ceanainn and Scoil Iosagain, Buncrana.

Rounders:

The draws for the rounders competitions have been made and will be emailed to the relevant schools this week. The first round of fixtures must be played by 23rd March. The competiton is split into three divisions:

Large Schools- 8 plus mainstream teachers; Medium Schools- 4/7 mainstream teachers; Small Schools- 2/3 mainstream teachers

Football Championship:

Fixtures for the 2012/13 season are now on the website. Teachers are encouraged to play as many blitzes as possible in their section in order to give the pupils as much game time as possible. Results should be recorded and the school with the most wins will qualify for the knockout stages in April.

Mouth Guards:

Teachers please note that from Jan. 1st 2013, it is compulsory for all players to wear mouthguards during Cumann na mBunscol football competitions. Players will not be allowed on to the field of play without one after this date. This is a directive from the National Committee of the GAA and will also be implemented at club level.

Indoor Football:

‘Game On’, Letterkenny was the venue for the boys and girls indoor football finals on Friday last. Over 40 schools took part in each of these competitions at the outset with the finals being whittled down to just 7 schools. A high standard of football throughout made for tough games for all involved. The boys final saw Kilmacrennan NS come up against Tooban NS. Having won the earlier game in the section, the boys from Inishowen fancied their chances in the final. However, the boys from Kilmacrennan put on a magnificent display and dominated the final, winning on a scoreline of 4-5 to 0-2.

The girls competition was also keenly contested with the girls from Woodlands facing Scoil Naomh Fionán, Falcarragh in the final. In a tough contest it was the girls from Falcarragh who won out in the end and captured the silverware.

Both Kilmacrennan NS and Falcarragh now progress to the Ulster indoor finals to be held in Cookstown, Co Tyrone in April.

Committee Meeting:

The next meeting will take place in Heaney’s, Ballybofey on Mon. 8th April @ 4.30pm.
