GAA NEWS: RED HUGHS CLUB NOTES

Lotto & 100+ Club

There was no jackpot winning sequence in this weeks Lotto draw but Gerard McConnell won €50. Numbers drawn were 6,1,4,2,8,7,3,5. Next weeks Lotto jackpot is €2,000. The Lotto sellers in the coming weeks are: 30th March – Tony Gallagher, 6th April – Paddy Kelly, 13th April – Barry Bradley and 20th April – Joe Carlin.

 

The winner of the 100+ Club draw this week was Michael Sweeney, Ballinaman who wins €100. Thanks to all for their continued support of the weekly Lotto & 100+ Club.

 

Adult / Underage Registration

The very last date for membership for 2013 is strictly 31st March. Adult membership costs €30 per person with a concession rate of €50 for couples (an adult and their partner/husband/wife). Underage registration costs €10 per child or a maximum of €20 for a family. New members are very welcome to join the club. All players must have membership paid before taking part in games

 

Seniors & Reserves

The new league season commences for both teams next Saturday (Easter Saturday) the 30th March away to Naomh Padraig, Lifford. Reserve game due to start at 4.00pm with the senior game at 5.15pm. All should come out to support the teams. Best of luck to all involved in the season ahead. Training continues this week at the usual times.

 

Senior Ladies

The senior ladies played their first league game against Urris at home on Sunday in cold windy conditions but came away with a good victory. Final score: Red Hughs 0-6 Urris 0-4. It was a great team performance from everyone and a great start for Micky, Eugene and the ladies. Team and scorers: Tina Mc Menamin, Aoife Campbell, Megan McNulty, Gemma Dullaghan, Bronagh Kelly, Nathasha McCrudden, Roisin O’Brien, Kate Browne, Shannon McCrudden, Madeline Penrose (0-1), Elaine Melaugh (0-3), Emma Brady (0-2), Rachel Mc Glinchey, Elaine Dullaghan, Majella Sweeney Subs Jade O’Donnell, Shauna Bradley. Next game is away to St Nauls next weekend. Best of luck to the ladies.

 

Minor Board

This weeks minor fixture against Burt was postponed and will be re-fixed for a later date. Their next game is fixed for Tuesday the 2nd April away to Naomh Padraig, Lifford.

 

The U14 boys begin their league season next Monday (Easter Monday) 1st April at home to Malin at 7.00pm. Best of luck to the boys.

 

The underage training is on Easter Saturday from 11.00-12.00 noon for all boys and girls from U6 to U12/13. The U12/13 girls training continues on Saturday from 11.00-12.00 noon. There have been good numbers out already so keep it up. All new players are welcome. Players are now required to wear gumshields at all training sessions and games.

 

Back of the Wall 5K Challenge

This years ‘Back of the Wall Challenge’ 5k walk/run will take place on Sunday 21st April. Check the Red Hughs Facebook page for more details and for training schedule.

 

Leaving Cert Grinds

There are Leaving Cert Maths and English courses at Easter in the clubhouse with Maths (Ordinary Level) on 28th March and English on 2nd April. Please contact Marie McColgan on (086) 3242100 for details. There is a small fee of 10 euro per course. Lunch will be provided.

 

Clubhouse Open for Activities

The upstairs room in the clubhouse is currently available for use for classes/activities. Times are flexible and reasonable rates apply. Anyone interested in using these facilities should contact Andy Doherty on (087) 6843311 for more details.

Congratulations to senior player PJ Gallagher and Helen on the recent birth of their new son.
