A sum of money was taken when a man wearing a balaclava walked into Callaghan’s XL shop on Main Street just after 9pm last night.

The shop assistant was ordered to empty the cash register and hand over what is understood to be a substantial amount of cash.

The raider made his escape on foot down the nearby Rosemount Lane area.

Gardai in Letterkenny are appealing for anyone who was in the area to contact them with any information.

They are also viewing CCTV as part of their investigation.
