Patrick McBreartyTHE GAA has taken action against a Dublin player after Paddy McBrearty was bitten during a national league clash earlier this month.

The Central Competitions Controls Committee (CCCC) has proposed the three-match suspension after an investigation.

THe CCCC had been investigating reports that Paddy McBrearty had been bitten on the shoulder by a Dublin player during the clash at Ballybofey ten days ago.

The Dublin County Board has said it will be appealing the proposed ban.

Donegal, who were relegated to Division 2 following the Ballybofey draw on April 7th, informed the referee at half-time of the incident.

A member of the Dublin medical staff after the game was also shown the wound caused to Paddy.

McBrearty was later taken to Letterkenny General Hospital for treatment which included a tetanus injection.

Photographs were taken of the wound.

It’s understood teeth marks can be seen in the pictures and the skin was broken and cut as a result.

The player hasn’t been publicly named and has told the Dublin Board he wishes to appeal the decision.

The incident has been classed as ‘reckless’ by the CCCC.
