Finn Harps Football Club is set to launch a Youth Development Plan, which will see the club working with kids in the 10 – 18 year old age bracket.Finn Harps

Currently, Harps have three teams – one playing senior football in the Airtricity League First Division, one playing intermediate football in the Ulster Senior League and one team competing in the Airtricity under-19 league.

However, below the age of 17 or 18 years, Finn Harps have had no recognised structure.

The club have been in discussions over the last year with various stakeholders in the North West including the Donegal Schoolboys League, Inishowen Schoolboys League, and clubs and schools from Derry and Tyrone along with representatives from the Schools.

Finn Harps Chairman, Joey O’Leary, said that the Youth Development Plan is vital as the club seeks to move forward.

“The Youth Development Plan is vital to the development of the club and a key component of the Club Licensing procedure. We will be working with underage players from age 10 up to 18 and working closely with schools, clubs and the Schoolboys Leagues in Donegal.”

Finn Harps Manager, Peter Hutton commented: “The development of an underage structure is extremely important for the club to progress and strengthen going forward.

“The Northwest region has always been a hotbed for young talented players and we now hope to help nurture that talent and give young players a platform from which they can reach their potential. We look forward to working with the various footballing stakeholders throughout the Northwest in what will be exciting times ahead for all involved.”
