The launch of the development will be undertaken by Dinny McGinley T.D., Minister of State at the Department of Arts, Heritage and the Gaeltachtl this morning at 11am

This new development includes:

· multipurpose court suitable for tennis, basketball, and 7-a-side football, with perimeter fencing and floodlights

· changing rooms, shower rooms, and toilets

· car park with lighting for 18 vehicles and 2 disabled parking spaces

· new access road to the facility

This development has been completed with state funding of almost €170,000.

Speaking ahead of the launch, the Minister of State said: “My Department has provided funding to assist with various developments in Árainn Mhór over the years—for example, the graveyard, the community hall, and the Irish college—and now we have provided a grant for sports equipment for this new centre. The partners who participated in this project have succeeded in providing a facility which will be very important for the economy and for the population of the island, something which will greatly enhance life on the island.”
