COUNTY PLAYERS SLAM FIXTURE COMMITTEE AS GAMES CLASH WITH TRAINING

Eamon McGeeDONEGAL’S county players are furious today, claiming the fixtures committee in the county have failed to take account of county training with just a few weeks to go until Donegal’s Championship clash with Tyrone in Ballybofey.

Jim McGuinness’s squad train on Saturdays – but some players then face journeys to away matches with their clubs.

Gaoth Dobhair’s Eamon McGee is among the county players who have hit out at the move.

It’s understood the players had asked for training to be on one day and matches to be on another – alternating between Saturdays and Sundays.

McGee has county training this Saturday – followed by an away trip to Killybegs.

He said accused the competitions committee of making “a hash of things.”
