A DRIVER is in a serious condition in hospital after a single vehicle crash at a notorious accident blackspot in Co Donegal.
The crash happened close to An Chuirt hotel at Meenaciung- on the N56 between Dunlewey and the turn-off for Bunbeag.
The victim, who is in his 40s, has been taken by ambulance to Letterkenny General Hospital where he is being treated for serious injuries.
Gardai have sealed off the road and have begun a major investigation into the crash.
The road will remain closed for the next few hours.
The incident happened not far from where a mother and her daughter on holidays from the North died in an accident four years ago.
“The road is now closed and diversions will remain in place for the next few hours,” said a Garda spokesman.
The incident happened around 2.30pm when the motorist’s van collided with a hedge.
