ATHLETICS – LIFFORD AC DO WELL IN BALLYSHANNON

Natasha Adams & Martin Devenney

Lifford AC had two athletes in action in the Ballyshannon 5k on Friday night. Natasha Adams and Martin Devenney travelled to the meeting in hunt of two PB’s and weren’t disappointed.

Natasha Adams was the winning woman on the night and 12th overall with an excellent run of 17.29 and also setting a course record in the women’s category. This was a massive PB of 1min and 6 secs off Nastasha previous 5k time. Martin Devenney also recorded a PB on the night recording 17.47 and 15th overall. This was a PB of 40secs for Martin who turns his attention to the Derry Marathon on June 2nd now.

In Aghyaran also on Friday night Mark Donaghey competed in the Gemma’s Memorial 5k. Mark ran an impressive 22.26 which is also a PB, Mark who is also turning his attention to the Marathon in Derry in June.

On Saturday the Club held its first event on the new track, Ann Marie McGlynn and Bill Duncan went in the 1500m event, Ann Marie ran a SB of 4:30. Bill recorded a time of 4.57 PB, this was the first time Bill had raced this distance.

The club would also invite all athletes to attend the official opening of the Danny Mc Daid track in Letterkenny which will be held on Saturday 18th. There will be a host of International Athletes on show in an attempt to break the sub 4 min mile for the first time in the north west. Good luck to all competing and also everyone involved at Letterkenny AC.
