The soccer star’s mother Sarah ‘Tim’ Boyle was from Gaoth Dobhair and Paddy still spends a lot of time in West Donegal.

Family and friends will gather with Paddy when he is given the accolade by Mayor of Donegal, Cllr Frank McBrearty, this Friday at County House in Lifford.

Paddy will then travel back to West Donegal where a gala dinner has been organised in his honour at the Ostan Gweedore Hotel.

He will be joined by his family including his three children and eight grandchildren.

Crerand, who is now 74, still works as a media pundit and often commentates on games for Man Utd’s television channel MUTV.

Stars including Packie Bonner and Shay Given are also expected to attend the occasion.
