What a difference a day makes. Last Sunday the weather in Dunfanaghy was unbelievable. It was superb. Yet on Saturday when Lady President’s day was supposed to be run the rain was so bad it had to be cancelled.GOLF LOGO

Lady President’s day is postponed to a later date to be decided.

On Wednesday the Open was won by Anthony Doherty with a superb score of 40 points. Second place was decided on BOT with Neil McGinley coming out on top with 38 points just managing to beat Noel Maguire. More about Neil McGinley later. The gross prize went as usual to Donal Boyle.

The Lady President’s day was cancelled due to the persistent rain on the day.

On Sunday you would not believe it was only a day later as the sun was out and there was very little wind. The conditions were ready for a great score even with the rough as it is and this came true when Frank Crumlish came home with a really great score of 43 points.

Neil McGinley who was convinced he has not been putting well over the last few weeks just managed yet again to come home in second place with another great score of 40 points. Neil has featured a lot in recent competitions and his play has been really steady. Neil was putting superbly throughout the day holing putts from all over the greens. The greens were in a superb condition as was the entire course.

Third place went to Tim Ryan with 39 points on BOT and Daniel Gallagher for the second time in a week won the Gross prize.

The draw has been made for the Challenge Cup and some very interesting matches are coming up. Daniel Gallagher, in form at the moment meets big Paul Smyth. There are also a couple of battles coming up between a few of the Ulster Cup players. I will keep you updated.

This is a busy week ahead as Brian Dolan’s President’s day is on Saturday. Timesheet in operation. This is a Stableford Competition with a nine-hole playoff to decide the winner.
