Fianna Fáil Councillor Patrick Mc Gowan has organised a public meeting to discuss the future of St. Joseph’s Community Hospital.Patrick McGowan

The meeting will take place in the Finn Valley Centre, Stranorlar on Thursday 27th June at 7.30pm

All members of the public and local public representatives are invited to attend the meeting. Senior HSE officials in the county will also be invited to attend.

” As a local representative I am extremely concerned at the long term future of St Joseph’s Community Hospital in light of the recent HIQA report and plans by the HSE to close up to 10 Beds at the Hospital.” said Cllr Mc Gowan.

Cllr Mc Gowan said ” The aim of the meeting is to discuss the HSE proposals to close beds at the hospital, the recommendations made in the HIQA report, respite care arrangements at the hospital and the ongoing unsatisfactory moratorium on recruitment of staff in community hospitals”.

” I am urging all members of the local community to attend the meeting and get involved in the campaign to save all beds at St. Joseph’s community Hospital. St Joseph’s Community Hospital is managed by the Health Service Executive (HSE) and provides short term (respite, convalescence and rehabilitation) and long term care. Its absolutely unacceptable that such an excellent and crucial facility with committed and dedicated staff would be forced by the Government to cut bed numbers. Enough is enough.”
