SENIOR FOOTBALL

Saturday saw the visit of our neighbours in this Division 2 league match. The teams took to the field in sweltering conditions. The match saw one of the fastest goals in Mac Cumhaill Park history. Glenfin bagged a goal after 13 seconds. Mac Cumhaills replied with a point from Darren O Leary. Glenfin kept the pressure on getting scores in the 6th and 11th. Mac Cumhaills didn’t lie down though and scored 3 unanswered points from Marty O Reilly. Further points from Glenfin in the 20th and 24th mins aand the last score of the half from Steven O Reilly saw the half time score Sean Mac Cumhaills 0-05 Glenfin 1-04. Unfortunately the start of the second half was a rerun of the first, with Glenfin finding the net after 30 seconds. This left Mac Cumhaills with an uphill battle. Again Mac Cumhaills never gave up and scores from Darren Mc Gowan, Darren O Leary, and Benny Mc Laughlin kept them within touching distance, but Glenfin kept their heads and were winners on a scoreline of

Sean Mac Cumhaills 1-11 Glenfin 3-10

RESERVE FOOTBALL

There was better news for the reserves who had a convincing win. It was a fast paced game with some excellent play from both teams. Showing well for Mac Cumhaills were Aaron Kelly, Stephen Mulligan, Marty Gallagher, who seems to have made the full back spot his own. Final score was Sean Mac Cumhaills 2-14 Glenfin 1-11. Scorers for Mac Cumhaills were Aaron Kelly 1-04, Stephen Mulligan 1-02, Lee Henderson 0-02, Ciaran Mathewson 0-02, Chris Gallen(just back from injury)0-02, Dermot Mc Cartan 0-01, Mickey Patton 0-01

THIRD TEAM

The thirds took on table toppers Naomh Conaill in Mac Cumhaill Park on Sunday evening. Mac Cumhaills will feel that they should’ve won this match. They will rue a large number of wides, this gave Naomh Conaill the opportunity to score a free deep into injury time to secure a draw. Final score Sean Mac Cumhaills 1-07 Naomh Conaill 1-07.
