There is no doubting what all the talk is this week, but in case anyone needs reminding, it is all roads leading to Clones on Sunday for the meeting of Donegal v Monaghan in the Ulster Final.Glenswilly GAA Club

Donegal are bidding for an historic 3 in a row and judging by the request for tickets, the members of Glenswilly will be there in force to shout on the lads.

We wish Michael, Neil and Gary all the best, along with the rest of the panel and management team. The throw in is 4 o’clock following Monaghan v Tyrone in the minor final.

Our senior team lost out to Bundoran for their second defeat in the league this season on Saturday evening(13th July) at home. Playing without our three county stars and a number of other key players through injury, it was indeed a challenge for the Glen boys.

Bundoran arrived to take full advantage of our misfortune and even though the Glen made a very promising start, we were unable to take control in key areas. On a positive note it was a very competitive, tense battle with some marvellous score from both teams and some tremendous saves from our own Philip O’Donnell in goal. Despite the defeat, Glenswilly still top the table with a point advantage.

The U-16 team recorded another overwhelming victory over Robert Emmets in Castlefin last Friday(12th July). They travel to Ballybofey to take on McCumhaills on Friday(19th July) and then they host Naomh Colmcille in Glenswilly on Monday(22nd July),both games throw in at 7.30.

The U-14 girls team lost out to Glenfin in an entertaining game in Glenswilly on Monday(15th July) on a score line of 4-05 to 4-02.

Fixtures for this coming week are the over 40’s challenge against Termon on Wednesday evening (17th July) in the Glen. Birth certs will be checked to ensure no under-age players are used illegally. The Glen would like to welcome the newest members to this elite team, especially a certain Mr Walshie. Throw in roughly 7.30.

The Lawrence McGinty tournament will see Glenswilly v Fanad in the Glen on Thursday evening(18th July).throw in 7.30. Glenfin will play Termon in the other semi-final of the tournament. On Friday (19th July) the reserve team have a league game away to Termon at the Burn road with a throw in of 8 o’clock.

Reminder that the Ice Cream Sunday will take place at the club on Sunday(28th July) with loads of ice cream and a programme of events to entertain all. Proceeds going to Down Syndrome Ireland. Please support.

The people taking part in the Traditional music school will give an exhibition of their skills along with there teachers in Wilkins Bar Churchill on Thursday evening at 9 o’clock. A great nights entertainment guaranteed, so be there if at all possible.

Another first for Glenswilly is the fact that we are the first club in Ulster selected to host the all-Ireland launch. The event involves the recording of a show for screening prior to the All-Ireland finals. All local and national print and filming crews will take over the Foxhall venue on Tuesday next to record the event. Only one club from each province is selected to host this event, and we are honoured to be able to accommodate same.

The winning lotto numbers this week are 6,8,10 and 13. Match 3 winner is Charlie”sky diver” Kane. Sellers for Saturday are Tommy Simmons and Michael McHugh with jackpot now €2840.00.
