Hospital floodedHEALTH Minister James Reilly and local TD Joe McHugh have paid tribute to the hundreds of volunteers who have been continuing the clean-up at Letterkenny General Hospital today.

Dr Reilly vowed to help put the hospital back in action as quickly as possible.

Deputy McHugh described the commitment to community of the 500 volunteers who are helping with the clean-up at Letterkenny General Hospital as “truly outstanding”, and he has said that the Government will work “step-by-step” with hospital management to overcome the problems caused by the floods.

Deputy McHugh was speaking in Letterkenny on Sunday afternoon when he brought Minister for Health Dr James Reilly TD to visit the hospital to survey the damage.

Joe McHugh TD said: “The commitment to community of the 500 volunteers who are helping with the clean-up at Letterkenny General Hospital is truly outstanding, and it proves the strength of Donegal’s sense of community.

“I am aware from speaking with some of the hospital staff over the weekend that this is a very traumatic time for the staff. The damage caused by the flooding is very serious, and I commend hospital management and staff for a very swift response to the crisis.

“Minister for Health James Reilly TD’s visit to our hospital today illustrates the Government’s commitment to supporting Letterkenny General Hospital through this crisis. The Government will work step-by-step with hospital management to overcome the problems.”
