Alan McSherry funeralHUNDREDS of people have attended today’s funeral for Alan McSherry, the man killed in a hit and run near Bundoran last Sunday morning.

Mr McSherry’s widow Jo walked behind her husband’s coffin as it made its way down Bundoran main street this morning on its way to the Star of the Sea chapel in the town.

Local people lined the road to show their support for the McSherry family including Alan’s mother and father and his brothers.

Mr McSherry was originally from Birkenhead on Merseyside and had moved to Ireland 14 years ago after he and his wife fell in love with the area.

He had lived just inside Co Leitrim but spent most of his time in Bundoran working where he was known as ‘Handy Al’.
