ANGERED ESTATE RESIDENTS PROTEST OVER FOUL WATER FLOW

Hazelwood Drive LiffordResidents of a Lifford housing estate are today staging a protest to highlight a stream of foul smelling sewage water that has plagued them for over four years.

The stream runs through the Hazelwood Drive estate and out onto the busy Letterkenny Road.

The problem has gotten so bad that residents must avoid being splashed by cars and trucks as they pass through the flow of filthy water.

At 2pm today, some Hazelwood Drive residents will hold a protest to draw attention to the conditions of the estate, which also has just 2 out of 17 streetlights in operation.

A resident has expressed their anger at being obligated to pay the Property Tax, despite the poor condition of the estate.

“It’s just disgusting. How can children go out and play amongst this sort of filth. They could get all sorts of diseases,” said one resident.
