INVESTIGATION LAUNCHED AFTER MAN KILLED IN ROAD SMASH

BREAKING NEWS: A 53-year-old man has been killed following a crash on the outskirts of Ballybofey.

A man was killed on the outskirts of Ballybofey this evening.

A man was killed on the outskirts of Ballybofey this evening.

The man, named locally as John O’Donnell from Curraghmone, was killed following the crash at 7.50pm last night.

It is understood the accident involved a jeep and a van at Creggan, Welchtown on the outskirts of the town.

It is not understood the person in the other vehicle was injured.

The scene was preserved by Gardai overnight.

Mr O’Donnell, a married man with grown-up children, was a highly-respected building contractor who was very popular in the area.

A full investigation into the cause of the crash is to taking place at first light this morning.
