LORETO LETTERKENNY GIRLS LIFT ALL IRELAND SWIMMING TITLE

IMG_1164Swimmers from Loreto Schools all over the country gathered in the National Aquatic Centre in Dublin on Thursday for the annual inter Loreto Schools Swimming Gala and the Senior girls from Loreto Letterkenny did their school and county proud by winning the Senior Freestyle Relay.

The team of Ellen Doherty, Emma Harvey, Niamh McHugh and Emma Vaughan fought off strong competition from Loreto Kilkenny to come home with the Gold medals and the All Ireland Loreto Shield.

These swimmers also had great individual swims with Emma Harvey winning Silver in the Backstroke, Ellen Doherty Bronze in the Breaststroke,Niamh McHugh Silver in Free and Emma Vaughan Silver in the Intermediate Breaststroke.

The Junior Relay team of Emma Tinney, Sinead O’Kane, Cara Nulty and Eadaoinn Kelly also enjoyed success by coming third and received Bronze medals.

Cara Nulty from this team won Bronze in the individual Breaststroke.

The Intermediate Relay team of Sarah Duffy, Chloe Tinney, Georgia Keys and Maria Sierra also performed well and gained points for the school.

With all this success the School team finished in fourth place overall.

Well done to all swimmers and good luck as they travel to the Ulster Schools competition in Ballymena over the weekend.
