written by Stephen Maguire January 28, 2014
FacebookTweetLinkedInPrint

Underage, Minor, and Senior teams are now back training, the under 14s are training on Mondays and Thursdays at 7.30pm.Glenswilly GAA Club

The minors had a good turnout last weekend and will continue On Wed 29th in the hall at 7 pm.

Paddy Mc Gintys third team are to commence training on Feb 4th at 8 pm.

The club are putting in a great effort to bring ladies football back again and anyone interested in getting involved should attend a meeting this Saturday Feb 1st in the club house at 6.30 pm. Hugh Mc Clafferty and Hazel White have been appointed as managers for the forthcoming year, both have vast experience in the ladies game and we wish them every success going forward.

Registration for the year has begun with large numbers attending the registration evenings of Friday and Saturday last. It is imperative that all players are registered before they commence training. If you missed the nights last weekend there will be other opportunities just keep an eye on the notes for dates.

In 2013 the senior team ran “The Last Man Standing” fund raising initiative which proved to be very successful. This year the opportunity is available to all club members and is being coordinated by Brendan Walsh. The entry fee is €10.00. Details and forms are available from Brendan. As the concept is based on the National League all forms and entry fee must be returned no later than Friday 31 Jan. For more details contact Brendan on 087 799 6111.

Seamus Callaghan is heading up the Scor this year and has asked anyone interested in getting involved in Solo Singing or the Ballad Group to attend a meeting at the club on Wednesday 29 Jan at 8.30 pm. Scor had been an integral part of the success of Glenswilly GAA Club over the last number of years and we are sure that Seamie with his vast experience in both music and drama will continue this trend, therefore if you are up for a bit of craic and a bit of fun please come along this Wednesday night.

We have been asked by the clubs children’ s officer George Simmons anyone who is in receipt of their Garda Vetting Certificate to drop it into the club as soon as possible.

As we are all aware good nutrition has become a vital ingredient in the personal development of our children and as a result the club is holding a talk by a qualified nutritionist on 6 Feb from 7-8 pm. It is hoped that as many parents and coaches as possible will attend. Remember the old saying “You are what you eat.”

Congratulations to Phil Boyle who has been appointed the clubs Oifig na Gaelige. Phil is a native of Aranmore and now lives in the parish where no doubt with his grasp of our native language he can bring a lot to the role in 2014.

The winning lotto numbers are 1,8,20,and 24 this weeks match 3 winner is Laura Duddy, Corderry, Churchill. Sellers for the forth coming week are Gary McDaid and Michael Canning.
