DUNKINEELY poker player Dermot Blain has picked up a Player of the Year award – but was took busy winning more cash to pick it up.
Full Tilt Poker Ambassador Dermot beat Belarus player Uladzimir Zakharau heads-up to take down the €1k PLO Turbo last night for €20,200.
Blain was unable to attend the lavish awards ceremony because he was too busy being a boss and winning the €1,100 Pot Limit Omaha 8-Handed event for €20,200 instead.
Having scored a victory during the first month of 2014 makes Blain a favourite to scoop what would be his third POY award, although there is a long way to go before that happens.
Said Dermot: “It’s a great start to 2014; picking up my second Irish player of the year award and €20k!”
There were 75 runners generating a €73,500 prize pool with 11 places paid.
