Sinn Féin Justice Spokesperson Padráig Mac Lochlainn TD has written to the Chairperson of the Oireachtas Justice Committee, Deputy David Stanton, requesting that he invite Minister Alan Shatter to appear before the committee this Wednesday.
Deputy Mac Lochlainn said: “I have written to Deputy Staunton to request that he invite the Minister for Justice to come before the Justice Committee this Wednesday in relation to the Whistleblower allegations which have emerged over the past week.
“In light of the allegations that the Minister knew about the cases for two years and failed to take action merits, in my view, the request that he come before the committee with some urgency on the matter.
“I believe that it is essential, given the gravity of the claims and the necessity of restoring public confidence in the admiration of justice and policing in this state, that the Minister be invited to appear before the committee.
“I hope that all members of the committee will be in agreement with my proposal.”
