HARPS FIND IT THREE AND EASY AGAINST ROVERS IN TALLAGHT

Finn Harps secured their first away boys this afternoon and boy did they do it in style.finn harps logo

Goals from Keith Cowan, Michael Funston and Pat McCann gave Harps a terrific 3-0 victory over Shamrock Rovers B at Tallaght.

Cowan scored at the perfect time just before the break in the 4th minute.

The central defender latched onto Damien McNulty’s cross and headed home into the top corner to make it 1-0.

And they added to their lead in the 56h minute when Liam Traynor was adjudged to have handled the ball in the area and Fusnton calmly slotted home the penalty to make it 2-0.

But if Funston’s job was taken with ease, Harps’ American midfielder Pat McCann showed a bit of class to make it 3-0.

McCann let fly with a superb 20 yard volley to give Rovers goalkeeper Michael Kelly no chance.

Credit to Rovers that they didn’t give up the ghost after that.

Two great efforts from Daniel Purdy and a point blank effort from Chris Lyons should have perhaps put the home side on the scoreboard.

Ruairi Keating, Harps on-loan signing from Sligo, enjoyed a great afternoon before being taken off.

Rovers made a double substitution but Harps were never going to squander a three goal cushion.

Ollie Horgan and the lads can enjoy a well-deserved Paddy’s Day after this performance.
