The Letterkenny candidate said the rules are clearly in place to stop anyone putting up posters yet.

Although he does not name the party, Fianna Fail posters were erected in Letterkenny.

“The Department of Environment has set down rules in relation to election posters, one of which is that posters should not be erected before 23rd April next in respect of local elections on May 23rd”, said Mr Cutliffe.

He added the rules are quite clear on the Departments website for all parties and candidates.

“But here we have one of the main parties erecting posters in Letterkenny over the weekend, well in advance of the permitted time-frame.”

Mr Cutliffe added that he thinks it a bit ironic that candidates & parties who hope to hold public office in the County Council are already , in his opinion, breaking the rules laid down by the Department of Environment in relation to the election.
