TAOISEACH Enda Kenny has turned the sod on the new extension to the CoLab building at LYIT which could create 100 new jobs in Letterkenny.

There was a large security presence at the site following protests during a visit by the Taoiseach to the same site in 2012.

However there were no protestors there today.

In a wide-ranging speech Mr Kenny praised the work of LYIT and its president Paul Hannigan in widening the frontiers of education in Donegal.

He said the work being done at the LYIT and CoLab was important for the future development of the economy.
