KELLY MCGRORY IN STUNNING FORM AT GREYSTONES INTERNATIONAL MEETING

Tir Chonaill AC athlete, Kelly McGrory, was in stunning form, when she ran a new 400m Hurdles county record time of 62.93 seconds in the Greystones International Meet on Saturday.  Kelly McGrory centre 300m Hurdles winner

Kate McGowan was also in impressive form, she timed at 63.40 seconds in the same event, it was an excellent run and was so close to the European Youth qualification time of 62.5 seconds.

At the same meeting there was good performances from Karl Griffin 1.52.87/800m and Daniel Gallagher, 4mins 20.4secs/1,500m.

Well done to Brian McCabe, 92mins 19 sec and Paul McGuckan 104mins 16 secs in Sunday lasts superbly organised Lifford/Strabane Half Marathon.

Ulster Schools: Congratulations from Tir Chonaill AC to all the athletes from Colaiste na Carraige, St Catherines, Killybegs, Abbey Voc School, Scoil Colmcille, Ballyshannon and Magh Eine College, Bundoran who qualified at ‘E’ District championships last week to compete for their respective schools at this weekend’s Ulster Schools Finals at the Antrim Stadium.

With first events getting under way at 3pm on Friday through to the relay finals at a little after 6pm on Saturday it is due to be a great weekend of fantastic athletics action!

Good luck to all athletes and their support teachers competing in what is the top underage athletics meet on the provincial colander

National League Round 1: Best of luck to our teams competing in Round 1 of the National League on Sunday in Sligo. Club Captains David Doherty and Jackie Harvey will field young teams in the Men’s Div 1 and Women’s Premier section’s and attempt to maximise points total as they progress to Round 2 on 22nd June

Important Coaching initiative: Donegal Sports Partnership are hosting a ‘Run for Fun Leaders training Programme’ for people who are either currently involved in leading endurance running groups or interested in getting the skills to start their own recreational running group. The course seeks to develop the technical skills of leaders and will give a brief introduction to the use of sports science as applied to endurance running.
