A young Donegal singer has been voted the best in Ireland in an emerging talent competition – and will make her TV debut this weekend.
Stunning musician Chanele McGuinness made the final three today from more than 550 entrants to the John Murray Show/Saturday Night Show emerging music competition.
Chanele McGuinness, Gary Showbiz and The New Transmission battled it out live in the RTE Studio 8 final on the John Murray Show.
And the public – and judges – gave Chanele the coveted slot on the Saturday Night Show with Brendan O’Connor this Saturday evening.
So much so that she’s now being invited to play the Electric Picnic. She also won a free recording deal at a top Dublin studio.
Her music is a combination of honest lyrics with warm melodies and simple acoustic guitar parts. Her style is often described as haunting.
“I’m absolutely delighted,” she said on air, thanking her competitors for their support in Dublin this morning.
Studio judges Cait O’Riordan, Jerry Fish and Caroline Henry were blown away by her performance with Fish giving her the Electric Picnic invite.
“It was an absolutely stunning performance,” said Fish, “I’ve fallen in love with Chanele’s music.”

And tune in to the Saturday Night Show this weekend on RTE1.
