ULSTER SENIOR LEAGUE CUP: SWILLY OVERCOME DRUMKEEN IN CLOSE AFFAIR

Swilly Rovers 2 – Drumkeen Utd 1socce§§r-ball

Victory for the Ramelton men in a pulsating encounter at Swilly Park.

On 4 mins Ryan Shields released Calvin Mooney whose lobbed effort was just over the bar.

2 mins later Swilly were ahead when Gareth Colhoun’s through ball found Darren Mc Geever who crossed for Calvin Mooney to produce a clinical finish from 6 yards.

On 36 mins Swilly should have have further ahead when Mc Geever & Mooney combined again as Mc Cauley produced a brilliant save to deny Mooney, & Micheal McHugh’s goalbound effort hit the crossbar and bounced to safety leaving it 1-0 to Swilly at the break.

Drumkeen who were always dangerous on the break were level when Philip White released Ronan Coyle, & the former Finn Harps man finished well from 8 yards.

Swilly were back in front after 61 mins when Laurence Tolands powerfully delivered corner was headed home in some style by the inrushing Dylan Hegarty.

Richie Moore of Drumkeen & Calvin Mooney of Swilly both had good chances in the final 10 mins but both efforts were narrowly wide. Dunccan Patterson hit the post for Swilly in the dying seconds after a great run.

The home fans went home happy after an enthralling encounter.
