The Loughside Community 5km fun walk/jog/run has raised over €5,000 for two local National Schools.

The event was run by Loughside Community in conjunction with Woodland NS and Cashelshanaghan NS.

More than 750 people showed up on the night and the event was reported as a great success.

Noel Sweeney, chairperson of the Loughside Community said “there was great work done by the parents committees from both schools and members of the Loughside Community”.

“There was a great buzz on the night and a real sense of community spirit, which is what we wanted to achieve”.

The Loughside Community would like to wish Kevin Caldwell well in his retirement as principal of the Woodland NS during this summer. Master Caldwell has been at the school since 1979 and has taught a number of the Loughside Community committee members.

Noel Sweeney said “The Loughside Community thanks Master Caldwell for his years of service in providing education to the children of the Loughside Community”.

“We’d also like to wish Ms. Gabriel Fitzsimons success in her new role as Principal of Woodland NS”.
