Buncrana gaa logoBuncrana GAA Notes

Senior Football

This game, played in glorious sunshine and perfect conditions at the Scarvey, means Buncrana have completed the double over neighbours Carndonagh.

Buncrana were the stronger team throughout although Carn’s goal shortly before half-time kept them in the game.

A good aspect of Buncrana’s display was that their points were spread throughout the team – Odhran Doherty getting 5, Caolan McGonagle 3, Paddy McMyler and Oisin Doherty 2 each and John Campbell and Calvin Jones 1 each. The final score was Buncrana 0-14 Carn 1-5.

Senior Hurling

Unfortunately our first competitive game of the season was cancelled at last minute on Saturday as Cappagh Gaels couldn’t travel. Hopefully we’ll get into action soon and build on all our under-age success over the past 5 years.

Senior Training

Seniors & Minors Hurling training is on Wednesdays at 7.00pm. All players are urged to make every effort to attend.

Seniors, Reserves, U-18, & U21 Football training is on Tuesdays & Thursdays at 7.30 in the Scarvey. New players always welcome!

Senior Ladies – Training every Wednesday at 7.30 in the Scarvey. New members always welcome.

Club Jerseys

Elizabeth Anne is now taking orders for the new Buncrana club jersey. Keep in mind lads that they are player fit/tight fit. If you want to order one let her know the size and number on back you require, price €50. EA also has club shorts and white shorts are in stock.

Underage Reports

Our U8 Boys & Girls travelled to Lifford on Saturday for another Go Game Blitz. They faced some tough competition from Glenswilly, St Michaels and Naomh Padraig. Each team showed great skill and determination. Thanks to Leo Gill, Joe Sharkey, Angela Deehan and Michelle McKenna who kindly offered to manage the teams on the Day.

Well done to the U12 hurlers who played Burt on Thursday night in their first game of the League. They had a comfortable win but are aware that tougher challenges lie ahead. The team really gelled together in the second half. Sometimes the final score doesn’t truly reflect the reality of a game but in this case the Buncrana performance was plainly displayed on the scoreboard – 7-6 to 2-0.

The U12 B also had a great battle against Burt. Well done to the boys for the big effort this week.

U12 Girls Blitz

A big ‘thank you’ to all the parents who helped and contributed to a really successful U12 Girls Blitz today in the Scarvey.

Thanks also to St Eunan’s, Steelstown, Moville and Carn for making the trek to the Scarvey today and competing in a great sporting manner to make today such a success.

Buncrana was able to field two teams today and the girls played their hearts out in glorious sunshine – you could tell from their happy faces how much they enjoyed their day in the sun!

These Blitzs, competitions and games wouldn’t be possible without officials running the lines, refereeing and making sure the games are played in a safe environment so great praise is due to our 4 new referees who officiated today – Young Whistlers Amie Casey and Ellen McLaughlin and slightly older (but only slightly!) Whistlers Orla Birch and Natasha Craig

Clothes, bags shoes and books only please – no electrical goods or toys. Thanks a mil for your support.

Club Lotto

This week’s numbers for 28th June were 9,10,22,27. There was no winner so the jackpot next week goes up to €4125. Amount collected was €775.32.
