GOLF LOGODunfanaghy Golf Club Notes

The weather improved as the week went on and there were great crowds on the course on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

The course is in fantastic condition and the scoring reflects this. Well done to Thomas Alcorn for arranging the Tidy Towns Classic on Friday. Congratulations to all the prize winners over the weekend.

Well done to Sarah who arranged a great night of entertainment in the clubhouse on Saturday night with a large attendance there for the festivities. Hopefully this is the first of many such events in the clubhouse in the future.

As you all are aware the bar is open in the clubhouse every day for July and August. The chef will be in the clubhouse from Wednesday to Sunday. There is a new menu in operation. Everybody who tasted the food at the weekend says it is excellent. Make sure to tell everyone about the great food on offer, which is very reasonably priced. A menu from the restaurant has been forwarded by email to each member and we would ask you to pass it on to your friends.

We are approaching Lady President, Julia’s day, this coming Saturday. I have no doubt that everyone will be at the club on Saturday to support Julia on her big day. Hopefully the weather will be kinder to Julia this year.

Any person who has matches to play in the challenge cup or the mixed foursomes please make arrangements to play your games as soon as possible. The matches are running smoothly so far.

Juvenile notes;

The largest group of boys this year so far took to the fairways last Saturday morning, in the cadet section Michael Dolan played his best golf yet to take the Cadet section from Eoin Bonner, Michael’s days in the cadet section are indeed numbered. In the main section Eoin Flanagan came home 1st from Kyle Mc Garvey with only a couple of shots separating the entire field.

Now with everybody on holidays it is suggested that Juveniles members who want to play during the week could assemble at the clubhouse at 11 each day and they can then head out themselves as long as the course is clear. They should mix it up so as the same ones are not always playing together, Let’s hope the good weather continues and everybody has an enjoyable summer. We all wish Michael Mc Fadden a speedy recover from his football related injury.

Upcoming competitions;

The Donegal Boys Junior Open Competition on the 18th July, takes place in Dunfanaghy. Timesheet open on www.dunfanaghygolfclub.com, €10 per person,
