TriathlonThe main race last weekend was the aptly named “Hell of the West” Olympic distance triathlon held in Kilkee, Co.Clare.

Five club triathletes took the long trip down south and all performed admirably. Aidan Callaghan finished fourth overall, in an event with a highly competitive field, backing up his winning performance in Mullaghmore.

The competition doubled as a National Series and National Championship event. Lisa Dalton and Gavin Crawford also featured strongly.

Christine Russell won the female section of the sprint triathlon hosted by Sligo Triathlon club and held in Rosses Point with all the junior club members very much to the fore.

On the local front Michael Tunney and Stephen Sweeney performed well in The Gaelforce Adventure Race.

The National Series rankings have been updated and at this stage individual club members are high up the rankings and the club is also well placed in the club section under the three separate categories. Further details are on the Triathlon Ireland website www.triathlonIreland.com.
