DONEGAL DUO SAY DUBS WILL COME BEFORE SELLING JERSEYS!

Donegal stars Michael Murphy and Neil Gallagher have confirmed they are to open a sports shop in Letterkenny this Friday.GER_3128

It comes just a couple of weeks before the two men from Glenswilly take on Dublin in the All-Ireland semi-final at Croke Park.

But the pair say that while their venture into the business world is exciting, all their efforts will first be put into overthrowing the Dubs at GAA headquarters.

Donegal captain Murphy, 25, said he simply couldn’t allow the opportunity of opening up his own sports shop to pass him by.

“Running a sports shop is something that I always had in the back of my mind, so when this opportunity presented itself, I couldn’t let it pass.

“I asked Neil Gallagher to come on board as a director of the company, as I’ve known him for many years and he’s the first person I thought of when the opportunity arose.

“While it’s good to be up and running, our primary focus for the moment is the All Ireland Semi Final, so we’re concentrating all of our energy and attention on that.’

And Michael’s close friend and club-mate, Neil Gallagher says the pair have already spent so much time in sports-shops buying sportgear that it’s a natural move to have one of their own!

“It’s a natural fit for us and we’ve created the kind of sports’ store that we would love to shop in ourselves, focusing on excellent products, quality service and expert advice.

“We’ve been planning this project for a while and have a great team in place, which means we’re free to concentrate on our training and preparation for the next game. That’s the most important thing for us at the minute.”

The state-of-the-art store offers a wide range of leading brands across almost 7,000 sq feet of retail space. The shop will open its doors for the first time on Friday, 15th August at 10.00am. Customers can also shop online at www.michaelmurphysports.ie

Dedicated zones within the store ensure an easy to navigate, customer-centric environment.

A custom-built golf section includes the northwest’s only golf simulator, giving customers access to cutting-edge technology to help improve their game. This is the perfect setting to book a golf lesson with the in-house professional.

The footwear section includes a gait analysis machine to ensure each customer gets a perfectly tailored fit. The team room upstairs is a dedicated space for sporting clubs and associations to select the best gear for their needs.

All the leading sports brands will be available in-store including O’Neills, Nike, Adidas, Asics, Puma, Mizuno and Canterbury together with the northwest’s only comprehensive stock of golfing brands. The golf offering includes Callaway, Ping, Taylormade, Titleist, Under Armour, Cobra, Footjoy, Clevland and Srixon.

The Michael Murphy Sports and Leisure team offers specialist advice across a complete range of sporting disciplines.

The shop caters for everybody, from professionals to amateurs, first timers, students, and those who simply want to be more active by getting outdoors. All sportswear can be personalised in-store while you wait. Along with the specialist advice required to get exactly the right product for their needs, customers can expect quality, convenience and value for money.

The shop also features the largest trophy centre in the northwest with an extensive trophy and medal selection and an engraving service for schools, clubs and all sporting organisations. The new store will stock everything required for the upcoming big match, including jerseys, hats, flags and scarves.

Michael Murphy Sports and Leisure will open this Friday at Station Roundabout, Letterkenny.
