Malin GAAMalin GAA Notes

MENS FOOTBALL

Our seniors produced a superb fight back to defeat Gweedore in the All County League on Sunday in a wet and windy Connolly Park.

Early in the second half we trailed by 4 points but 2 Brendan Mc Laughlin (F) goals turned the game and we held out for a comfortable 2-9 to 0-11 win over a Gweedore side which featured 3 current Donegal members and a host of county minor players.

The win lifts us to 5th place in the league on 15 points with just 3 games left to play.

Our reserves were beaten 3-7 to 0-5 by a more experienced and physically stronger Gweedore outfit

UNDERAGE GIRLS

Best wishes to our Under 16s who take on Red Hughs in Connolly Park on Tuesday evening. Throw in at 6-00. All support welcome.

UNDERAGE BOYS

In the curtain raiser to the Gweedore games on Sunday, our under 10 and 12s took on the Castletown club from Co Meath.

Over the 40 mins both sides produced some excellent football in the testing conditions.

We would like to extend our appreciation to the Castletown mentors and players for making the long journey and especially to Michael Doherty (Owen) who helped organise the trip.

FUNDRAISING DANCE

Malin Hotel is the place to be on Saturday night when the club host a charity dance in memory of the late Bernie Collins in the Malin Hotel.

Tickets are available from any club member or you can pay at the door.

The money raised will be split between the oncology unit in Letterkenny & St. Luke’s hospital Dublin as the family want to acknowledge these invaluable services.

Why not come along for a ‘jive & a catch up’ and support these two very worthy causes.

CLUB SHOP

The Malin GAA club shop will be open in the clubhouse on Saturdays from 12-2 and on Sundays from 11-15 to 2-00.

There are a large selection of club merchandise in stock, which can be purchased on the day. A list of other club gear, hoodies, rain jackets, shorts, socks, hats, scarves, kit bags etc are also available to order.

The Malin half zipped training tops sponsored by Mark Monagle of 4Mark Construction are also available to order and are proving very popular.

Club vouchers are now also available and would make an ideal birthday present, or for any occasion. For more details, contact Susan on 07493 70638.

LOTTO

There was no winner of this week’s lotto jackpot of €1200, sequence drawn was 3-4-5-6-1-2-7. €50 winner was Patrick Doherty, Umgall. Winner of the 20 euro sellers prize was Umgall Bar.

Next weeks jackpot is €1250 and as always we would like to thank the local community for their continued support of our weekly lotto draw.

Envelopes are just €2 or 3 for €5 euro and are available in most pubs and shops in the area or alternatively from our band of young eager sellers.
