Tir Chonaill Gaels News

Seniors:

After a 2 year absence the London senior championship cup is back in Greenford following an almighty battle against Fulham Irish last Sunday at Ruislip. Tir Chonaill Gaels Pic

Fulham started the brighter with an early goal but we pegged our way back and finished the half ahead after a converted Cathal Magee penalty.

Both sides had opportunities in the 2nd half to add goals but good goalkeeping and poor finishing kept us biting our finger nails until the final whistle.

So it’s title number 15 (14 since 1990) and a satisfying result for this bunch of players who lost out by a point in last years final.

Man of the match award went to Mark Gottsche with other excellent performances from Brian Collins, Brian Ross and Joe Feeney. TCG 1-12 Fulham Irish 1-9

Juniors:

The Junior team were given a walkover last weekend against Round Towers in the Home Grown competition.

Ladies:

Well done to our ladies team who beat Saint Colmkille last Saturday in the Junior championship at Greenford, Shaun Campbell and Conor Connelly have the girls in tip top condition.

Anniversary Mass:

Their will be an anniversary mass for our late Vice President James Callaghan this Saturday in the visitation church in Greenford at 7pm.

Gabriel Donohoe:

Long serving member Gabriel Donohoe RIP who passed away in June will have his ashes spread over our grounds on Sunday 28th September. More details to follow nearer to the time.

Fixtures:

Not even a week will pass and we have to face Fulham all over again, this Saturday we clash in the Div1 league final at Ruislip 4.30pm.

Juniors v Eir Og in Malarkey cup at Greenford 6pm.

Vintage Day:

Many thanks to all of our club members who helped out on Sunday at the London Irish Vintage day on what was another super occasion.

Well done to Brendan, Maureen and the committee.
